Located approximately 50 kilometers east of downtown Siem Reap, the airport is strategically positioned to serve as the primary gateway for travelers embarking on a journey to the renowned Angkor Wat complex. The location of the new airport, in comparison to the old airport, which was just 5 km from town, was chosen due to several reasons, including:
